What shipped in CrewSmart (quarterly round-up)

A quieter quarter on the surface, partly because a good deal of the summer went into the work that arrived in October (Vessel Attributes, Critical Spares and the new Admin area, which get their own round-up). What did ship was aimed squarely at the people who have to prove things: training managers, crewing coordinators and anyone who has sat across the table from an auditor.

Baseline Assessments: dashboards and reporting

The module formerly called Competency Manager now has a manager dashboard showing completion, overdue assessments, workflow status and score trends; training insights that surface the lowest-scoring categories; filtering by role, region, employment type and date; individual overviews with score history and focus areas; and PDF reports for all of it. The question "where do we need more training?" now has a page rather than a spreadsheet.

Crew Worked With

A new report shows, as a matrix, how many times each crew member has worked alongside each other crew member over a chosen period, filtered by role, region, vessel and date. Click a cell and you get the shared allocation dates behind it. It exists because this is exactly what gets asked during audits, investigations and operational reviews, and the answer used to mean reading allocation records one at a time.

Job descriptions in the employment record

Job descriptions can be attached to a crew member's employment profile, appended to their Seafarer Employment Agreement, or both. A small change, requested directly by a customer, that closes a gap many operators were filling with a Word document.

Expenses on the timesheet PDF

An option in Employment Admin > Expenses adds approved personal expenses, with receipt images, to the finance timesheet PDF for the period, so the two documents that finance reconciles against each other are now one.

Next up: the October releases, which are substantial. If you would like a walkthrough of anything above, get in touch.
