LightShip Atlantic - 2025

CrewSmart is proud to announce that we are once again sponsoring Lightship Atlantic in the World’s Toughest Row – Atlantic 2025, one of the most demanding endurance events on the planet. After the incredible achievement of last year’s Lightship Atlantic crew (Nia & Pammie), we are delighted to continue our support for this extraordinary challenge this time with a new solo mission at its heart.

A Solo Atlantic Crossing for a Lifesaving Cause

This year’s rower is Ian Baylis, will be taking on the 3,000-nautical-mile crossing solo. Ian will set off from San Sebastián de la Gomera in the Canary Islands on 12 December 2025, rowing unassisted across the Atlantic to English Harbour, Antigua.

Rowing alone brings a very different level of challenge. With no teammate to share shifts, decision-making, or recovery time, Ian will face weeks of relentless physical effort, long nights at sea, and the mental intensity that comes with total self-reliance. The crossing is expected to take around six weeks, depending on conditions

Supporting Wales Air Ambulance

Ian is rowing to raise vital funds for the Wales Air Ambulance, a charity providing emergency air cover and rapid-response critical care for communities across Wales. Every mile rowed will help support a service that saves lives daily, often in the most remote and time-critical situations.

Why CrewSmart Is Backing Lightship Atlantic

At CrewSmart, we know the sea demands resilience, planning and a deep respect for safety. That’s why we’re proud to sponsor Lightship Atlantic again — backing Ian’s incredible solo row and helping raise vital funds and awareness for the Wales Air Ambulance.
